Your NetID is a unique identifier that provides access to your Cornell email and other non-public Cornell resources and information.

Cornell provides additional security protection for personal data by requiring Two-Step Login to access important online resources, including Student Essentials, Canvas, and Student Center. Two-Step Login is a two-factor authentication service that prevents the use of stolen Cornell passwords by requiring confirmation from something a third party doesn’t have, such as your phone or another device. Because some tasks you need to complete before arriving on campus will require Two-Step Login, enroll during the NetID activation process.

Steps to Activate NetID, Email, and Two-Step Login

1. Confirm your enrollment with Cornell and submit an enrollment deposit, if required by your program.
2. After your deposit is processed, an email from netid-activation@cornell.edu will be sent to the address used for your Cornell application with instructions to activate your NetID and email. It can take up to two business days for your NetID to be created once your deposit is processed. Note that the email might land in your spam/junk folder.

   Graduate Students

   You will receive an email with instructions to set up your NetID via ApplyWeb.

   Professional Students (Cornell Tech, Johnson, Law, and Vet)

   You will receive an email with instructions to activate your NetID and Cornell email account online or via text message.

3. Be sure to visit the IT@Cornell website and set up Two-Step Login to gain access to required resources.

All new students must memorize their seven-digit Cornell ID number.

This is your unique personal identifier at Cornell. It will be printed on your Student ID Card. You will be required to use it for:

• forms
• exams
• paying your bill
• security verifications and more.

Your Cornell ID number is different than your Cornell NetID. Your NetID consists of your initials plus a number. You use it, along with a password, to obtain secure access to online services at Cornell.

In addition to the traditional meal plans and debit plans, be sure to check out City Bucks - a pre-paid, declining balance account accessed through your Cornell Student ID Card that eliminates the need to carry cash at many off-campus locations.

If you have a current, working Student ID Card, you do not need to get a new one. Once we create a new card for you, your current card will stop working.

Depending on your relationship to the university and the services that you sign up for, your ID card can also be used as an electronic door key and to access a variety of functions and facilities on campus, including athletic events, CornellCard charges, dining units, fitness centers, libraries, and transportation services.

Before the end of the Fall semester, you must submit an official, final transcript of your undergraduate degree to the Graduate School Admissions office with the degree marked as conferred or awarded.

• The Graduate School Admissions office requires its own official copy of your documents. Any transcripts or other academic records that you submitted with your application, or sent directly to your admitting program, will not fulfill the final transcript requirement.
• If you earned your undergraduate degree at an institution outside the United States of America, you must provide a transcript, a certified copy of your diploma and/or degree certificate, and a certified translation of all documents if they are not already in English.
• If you earned your undergraduate degree from Cornell University, you do not need to submit a transcript.

The final deadline to complete this requirement is December 5. Submit your documents earlier to avoid processing and Spring registration delays. Detailed instructions on how to submit your documents can be found on our Transcript Requirements web page.

If you have not submitted all forms and documentation to meet your New Student Health Requirements, please do so as soon as possible.

Your status on the To Do List will remain "incomplete" until your information has been:

1. submitted by you; then
2. reviewed and approved by Cornell Health (may take several weeks)

If we discover problems with any of your forms or submissions, you will receive an email directing you to view a secure message in myCornellHealth.

If you are unable to meet your health requirements, you must contact Cornell Health's Requirements Office immediately to make a plan for meeting your requirements when you get to campus. If you do not take action, you will be subject to progressive penalties, up to and including disenrollment.

Deadlines

• Accessible Housing Requests: Students are encouraged to start the process as early as possible. SDS and the Graduate Housing Office will work with students to identify housing options that meet their access needs. Limited housing is available and housing applications are considered on a rolling basis.
• Academic and Other Access Requests: Submit by June 15 to allow adequate time to review your request. Some disability services require advance planning to have in place at the start of the semester.

Cornell Fitness Centers (CFC) offer fun, stress-relieving, safe, convenient, and enjoyable exercise programs with five centers located around campus that provide an extensive variety of cardio and weight equipment. CFC's Group Fitness Membership includes more than 60 group exercise classes each week for members.

All students must provide proof of health insurance. Students can either have their own U.S. based health insurance plan or Cornell's Student Insurance Plan (SHP).

All students must either waive or confirm enrollment in SHP. Students who do not take action are automatically enrolled in Cornell's Student Health Plan (SHP) to meet the insurance requirement.

Beginning June 1, compare your health insurance coverage to SHP coverage by reviewing Cornell student insurance requirements.

Optional Coverage

SHP plan members may enroll dependents, and all students and qualified dependents are eligible to enroll in Cornell's dental and vision plans.

Financial institutions, including the financial departments of colleges and universities, are required by federal laws to be transparent with their policies/procedures and requirements. Our goal is to help students to understand the cost of their education and their financial responsibilities, as well as Cornell's financial policies and expectations for payment.

For this reason, all Cornell students are required to accept the Financial Responsibility Agreement when they first register at Cornell. Signing this agreement is your acknowledgment of your financial obligations related to enrolling in classes, and your understanding of the potential consequences that may result if you fail to meet your obligations.

You have not submitted your Financial Responsibility Agreement. Complete this required form as soon as possible.

The CornellCard account is an optional service that allows you to make purchases by presenting your Student ID Card. This service can help you manage your day-to-day expenses without having to carry large amounts of cash.

Bursar student refunds and university stipends (financial aid) are issued electronically. Students must enter their banking information and manage their account through the secure Cornell Nelnet.

Bursar bills are electronic, via Cashnet; paper bills will not be sent.

1. Activate your Cornell NetID and email address.
2. Cashnet is Cornell's e-billing system. Incoming students must grant access to other users/payers to view or pay the tuition bill.
3. Pay your tuition bill by August 7. The July e-bill including fall semester tuition will be available via Cashnet on July 8.

Cornell University is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning, living, and working environment for its students, faculty, and staff members. All new graduate and professional students are required to successfully complete Graduate and Professional Student Responsibility – Sexual and Related Misconduct. This is an online course required by law that informs students about Cornell University policies related to sexual and related misconduct and consensual relationships between faculty/staff and students, University resources, and bystander intervention options. Participants are required to pass a quiz at the end of the course.

The course will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. The program must be completed in its entirety. Sign in to the To Do List to access your link to the course. Unless otherwise specified by your school or program, the deadline for completion is August 22, 2022.

The free Big Red Sports Pass gives you access to all home athletic contests (except men's ice hockey) at no cost. Sign up for the pass beginning July 16. Once you sign up, the service activates on your Student ID Card.

The shared mission of the Office of Spirituality and Meaning-Making (OSMM) and Cornell United Religious Work (CURW) is to nurture the human spirit by inviting our students to make meaning of themselves and the world. We support all Cornell students, regardless of their religious or ethical worldview.

OSMM offers a variety of programs to help students discover what they believe, find places to belong, and become people who live with intention and purpose. OSMM also supports CURW, a community of affiliated chaplains—religious, spiritual, and secular leaders—who offer additional spiritual support, religious services, and community service opportunities. Ithaca's gorges are beautiful, but dangerous, too. Take a few minutes to watch this video on safe and responsible use of the gorges. While the water in the creeks is alluring, it is deceptively treacherous. In this video, you will learn about the dangers you can't see, and ways to safely explore and enjoy the gorges and natural areas at Cornell and nearby.

Introduction to the Student Code of Conduct

The Student Code of Conduct (Code) establishes Cornell's expectations applicable to all students and recognized and registered student organizations. The standards contained in the Code are based in Cornell's historical educational origins and mission. These standards reflect the founding vision and values of Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White. Cornell's education legacy embodies personal growth through higher learning, and Ezra Cornell's aspiration to "…found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study". The Code is intended to preserve a higher education community and residential campus where "any person" in the community can pursue their education in a secure and nourishing environment (2020 Code, pg. 1).

Use Canvas to read and review a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation on the Student Code of Conduct, and complete an attestation at the end of the presentation. This is due August 15.

Note: It may take up to a week after you have submitted your enrollment deposit before you are able to log in to Canvas.

Transit Access: Fall entrant New-to-Cornell students automatically receive free, unlimited-ride TCAT bus privileges until August 31, 2023. No need to submit a form. Students must use their Student ID Card at the fare box and remain registered to access this privilege.

Vehicle Registration and/or Parking Permits: Parking on the Ithaca campus is extremely limited. Students are strongly encouraged to leave the vehicle home, and rely on the excellent public transit service provided by TCAT. Beginning August 8, 2022, students can register their vehicle (required; free) and purchase a parking permit (optional; price varies) for their residential area or a commuter lot prior to their arrival. When permits sell out, parking options will be limited to short-term paid parking.

Bikes: Bicycle registration (free) is mandatory if you ride or store a bike on the Ithaca campus.
